Meet our Dietitians
Kristin Kelly, RD, LDN
Kristin Kelly is one of BSNC’s clinical nutrition specialists. Kristin is a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Foods and a Minor in Health Promotion. She completed her dietetic internship through Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. She is commissioned as a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a Licensed Nutritionist/Dietitian within the state of North Carolina.
Kristin is experienced providing nutrition counseling and assessment within a variety of disease states and life stages. She got her start working with child/infant and maternal nutrition in addition to private counseling for adult weight and diabetes management. Kristin’s guiding principle is to enjoy what you like in moderation and mindfulness. She works to provide realistic and long-term solutions for better eating in the midst of our demanding lives.
Outside of work, Kristin enjoys volleyball, running, and experimenting with new recipes. She finds most joy spending time outdoors with family, friends, and her chocolate lab Luna.
Melissa Lanes, MS, RD, LDN
Melissa Lanes is one of BSNC’s clinical nutrition specialists. Melissa is a graduate of The University of Florida in Gainesville, FL with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition and a Master’s of Science Degree in Health Education and Behavior. She completed her dietetic internship through Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Melissa is commissioned as a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist within the state of North Carolina. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist.
Melissa has previous experience providing nutrition counseling and education in many populations. She began her nutrition work in the public health realm, working with infants, children, pre-natal women, and mothers. Melissa believes in patient-centered, individualized nutrition, eating foods in moderation, and listening to your body through intuitive eating. She is passionate about helping her patients live life to the fullest by using health and wellness as a tool to achieve lasting success.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys traveling, doing yoga, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. She values quality time with family and friends and exploring new local restaurants and coffee shops.
Rebecca Skotek, RD, LDN
Rebecca Skotek is one of BSNC’s clinical nutrition specialists. Rebecca is a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition Science and a minor in Business Administration. She completed her dietetic internship through Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. She is commissioned as a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a Licensed Dietitian and Nutritionist within the state of North Carolina.
Rebecca’s guiding principle is an individualized approach to nutrition, understanding each patient’s needs are different. It is her goal to translate her background and knowledge into relatable information in order to best accommodate a patient’s personal lifestyle goals. Rebecca got her start working in the kitchen, observing the manipulation of food chemistry in order to obtain different culinary outcomes. Along with this, she learned how food is ultimately a tool for us to fuel our body and maintain our optimal health.
Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys running at sunset, exploring Raleigh one coffee shop at a time, and developing new methods to flip familiar favorite recipes into healthier alternatives. Whenever possible, she makes “thyme” to fit “corn-y” food puns into conversation.
